Royal Swing 2025

26 & 27 April 2025, The Hague
Join us in celebration of King’s Day with a weekend of dancing. Two days, two parties, two live bands!
On Saturday april 26th we’ll be welcoming Jake Walker, a Jazz Septet from Belgium, who’ve spent the last 8 year playing at Swing Dance Festivals all around Europe. And now they’re here playing for us at the beautiful Paleiskerk in The Hague.

But that’s not all. On Sunday April 27th we’ll be dancing in the Prael at our special Royal Swing edition of the Beerdance. We will welcome The Royal Croquettes. That can’t be a coincidence, can it?

And rest assured we’ll come with a good deal for the people who come and swing with us for the whole weekend! Tickets will be priced 39,- for a party pass.

Bands

Jake Walker

Founded in 2016 by pianist Wouter Van den Broeck and saxophonist Alec Lagrange, Jake Walker brings the vibrant spirit of New Orleans jazz to life. This seven-member ensemble, born from the Ghent music scene, quickly gained a reputation for their energetic performances and youthful dynamism.

Big band classics and swing arrangements set dance floors ablaze. Their journey includes a UK tour, themed concerts, and an ambitious project with new compositions.

With over 100 arrangements, their repertoire spans from Count Basie to Duke Ellington, making them a standout in the swing band scene. Join the musical journey of Jake Walker and experience the diverse personalities that make their performances unforgettable!

Jake Walker will be playing for us on Saturday night in De Paleiskerk.

The Royal Croquettes

No name better suited than this band. They were blazing hot at The Mess Around in September 2024, and we want more of that for sure!

In 2019 they discovered that they shared the same passion for traditional jazz and swing music in the style of the great legends. Few days later they decide to meet and jam hard on some old fashioned classics. Thanks to their talented arrangers, Niccolò Angioni and Simon Gelsdorf the Royal Croquettes are swinging as hell, and make dancers jump on their feet to fill the venue with their energy.

You can enjoy The Royal Croquettes on Sunday afternoon.

Workshop

Annabel and Hanna making a selfie

On King’s Day we love to bargain. And getting these two amazing humans to teach a taster class is literally a steal! Come enjoy Hanna and Annabel’s energy and learn how to steal dance partners. You can apply this during birthday dances, but it’s also just fun to do with a smaller group. The only thing you need to bring is your consent 😉

Vintage Market

The Hague Hoppers dance school is hosting a vintage market during King’s Day including a tea dance in our studio at Herengracht 13. More info will follow.
